kronic 9f145e3a83 Art: ArenaFieldSystem placement policy — props in the fought-in band, nav-safe spacing
Operator delegated the placement call. Applied standard top-down-arena practice
rather than the first-pass ring scatter:

  clear core (5u) the landing spot and dash room; props there cramp spawn
                       and cause dash collisions the player never asked for
  band 6-13u solids live in KITING range, which is also roughly where
                       the diver's travelling light reaches. A prop outside the
                       lit radius reads as an invisible wall - the worst failure
                       mode in a dark game, so cover is pulled inward to where
                       it can be SEEN before it is hit
  min spacing 2.6u enforced across clutter AND cover on ONE shared occupancy
                       list. This is a NAVIGATION guarantee, not an aesthetic:
                       enemies have no pathfinding, so gaps must stay wider than
                       a body. Rejection-sampled; a piece that cannot fit is
                       DROPPED rather than jammed into a gap movers can't pass
  explosives >8u a barrel near the landing spot chains into you on spawn

Measured live, all three invariants hold:
  17 solids, radius 7.89..12.95, min gap 2.79 (policy >=2.60), 0 explosives <8u

Nav re-validated on a CLEAN run: closest approach 1.40u, two enemies in melee.
Enemies cross the inward cover band and reach the player.

Correction worth recording: three intermediate readings showed "frozen movers"
and were WRONG. Teleporting the player around a long-running Play session
desyncs the predicted character controller and leaves stale AI state - the
server had the player back at (2.5,0) while I was measuring against (0,0), and
an earlier "all four frozen" reading was simply enemies that had converged and
were attacking. Only the clean, unmutated run is valid. Do not mutate server
state and then trust a movement measurement in the same session.

kronic 05bf835862 Fix: ArenaFieldSystem — restore the arena's clutter, cover and geysers (purge regression)
Operator at the A0 gate: "the world is very static." Part of that was a
regression from today's purge, and the audit's own signature pattern for the
third time: the system exists, the authoring is placed, and it silently
produces nothing.

Server/Economy/RoomFieldSystem.cs was deleted with the run/room FSM in
62e48a3b0. That was correct for the FSM, but the system was also the only
consumer of the ClutterFieldSpawner / CoverFieldSpawner / GeyserFieldSpawner
singletons. Those kept baking into Gameplay.unity and nothing read them:

  before:  Geyser 0   BlightClutter 0   (spawners configured for 14 + 2 + 3)
  after:   Geyser 2   BlightClutter 17

So the arena lost 14 destructible clutter pieces, 3 cover pieces and 2
periodically erupting geysers — a large share of everything that moved or
could be interacted with.

The old system could not be revived: it keyed every spawn off RunInfo,
RunRuntime, RoomPlan, RunMapMath, RegionMath and RoomTag teardown, all gone.
ArenaFieldSystem is a gym-scoped replacement that seeds ONCE at world start
and never tears down — Phase 1 is "no world, a gym", and everything
room-shaped belongs to the Phase-2 pocket generator, not here.

Contracts carried over deliberately, each load-bearing:
  - baked.WithPosition, never FromPosition (FromPosition resets Scale, a GhostField)
  - Geyser NextEruptTick born-correct off the live ServerTick via TickUtil.NonZero,
    staggered 60 ticks per instance so eruptions desync; 0 stays "not ready"
  - a 6 u keep-out ring around the arena origin (the player's landing spot)
  - clutter variant 3 = the explosive hazard, 0-2 inert dressing
  - a fixed arena seed: a gym wants the same arena every session

Verified live: geysers stamped 306 / 366 (staggered, Scale 1.00 preserved).

Navigation re-validated per the standing rule that adding Environment cover
can freeze movers, since enemies have NO pathfinding. First measurement showed
all four "frozen" — that was my error: they had already converged and were
attacking. Re-tested by moving the player across the arena: all four closed
23.5->20.4, 24.2->21.2, 23.9->20.9, 22.8->19.7 u through the cover field. No
soft-lock.

304/304 EditMode green.

kronic 62e48a3b0b LANTERN purge: delete the superseded base/expedition shell (audit H1/H3/M5)
The 2026-08-06 audit found the shipping scene was still the abandoned
co-op-Hades game with LANTERN combat bolted on, and that a third of the
codebase was live code for a direction abandoned on 2026-07-13. Operator
chose deletion over freezing: "everything is saved in source control if
needed. I want the project to be clean."

DELETED (~140 source files, Scripts 335->231, Tests 77->43):
- Enemy variants + boss (H3). ChargerAuthoring / SpitterAuthoring /
  SwarmerAuthoring were attached to ZERO prefabs, so LungeState /
  SpitterState / SwarmerTag were never baked: ~272 lines of Bursted AI
  passes, BossAISystem (261 lines) and the whole MixBands escalation
  curve could not match a single chunk at runtime, while 734 lines of
  green tests certified them. Both shipping enemy prefabs were already
  byte-identical in stats.
- Run/room lifecycle: RunDirector FSM, RunInfo/RunMap/RoomPlan/RoomTag,
  route select, portal interact, ready-check, room field/teardown.
- Meta shop, prep loadout, boons (incl. KillRewardSystem and
  DashTrailDamageSystem, which existed only to serve boon flags).
- Build palette + structures, shared storage, inventory/equipment
  (already recorded PAUSED in CLAUDE.md).
- The HUD panels driving all of the above (HudSystem 1168 -> 610).

KEPT deliberately: BaseGridMath + BaseAnchor (8 systems use PlotCenter
for spawn rings, respawn and dynamic light), the resource ledger +
StorageMath, the save system, region/relevancy. Three of these were in
the delete set until I checked their consumers — worth remembering that
the file-level manifest was wrong about them.

Also folds in audit finding M5: PlayerClass was a second, server-only
copy of the byte FrameId already replicates. It existed for the meta
shop; with that gone, FrameId is the single frame identity.

Harvest is now single-sink (ledger). HarvestMath keeps its shape so
LANTERN's carried-vs-banked cargo split lands in one place, not two.

295/295 EditMode green, zero compile errors. Subscene re-bake and Play
validation follow in the next commit.

kronic 4a8220ad3e LANTERN purge B6: delete the legacy single-ability path (sockets are THE ability model)
AbilityRef, AbilityCooldown, EffectiveAbilityStats, DefaultAbility deleted.
GoInGameServerSystem seeds the per-frame 4-socket Spark loadout UNCONDITIONALLY
(was gym-only); ClassSelectReceiveSystem + DebugOp.SetClass swap FrameId +
re-seed sockets + zero SocketCooldown; ClassSwapUtil.Apply drops newAbilityId;
EquipSystem weapons become stat-sticks (GrantedAbilityId removed from the item
blob/authoring); StatRecomputeSystem folds CharacterStatsRef + sockets only;
HUD cooldown bar reads socket 0 of SocketCooldown/EffectiveSocketStats; class
HUD readers are FrameId-only (ClassForAbility/AbilityFor deleted);
DebugModifierInjectionSystem drops CycleAbility.

390 tests green; Play-verified: a non-gym spawn gets frame=2 with Sparks
[7,8,6,9] and no console errors.

kronic 4febf3dfe2 Hazard: Blight geyser — permanent periodic both-sides AoE (Phase 1.5b bundle 3)
Review-first netcode slice (design review wf_900e9965-8f0 -> 11 folded;
post-impl wf_5c8299f8-299 clean). A PERMANENT periodic telegraphed AoE in
Blight-biome rooms only; one new [GhostField] uint NextEruptTick.

- Geyser component + GeyserEruptSystem (server): inverted invalid-tick guard
  (a baked-0 tick must NEVER erupt -> lazy-stamps born-correct instead of the
  party-wiping per-tick barrage), inline both-sides gather (SourceNetworkId=-1),
  reschedule = now + period (never +=), never destroyed.
- GeyserTelegraphSystem (client): absolute-tick growing warning disc +
  erupt burst on the >0->=<0 crossing, latched per NextEruptTick + arm-guard
  (never edge-detects the replicated field -> no phantom on 0->stamp /
  relevancy re-entry). Reuses ScorchDecalSystem + DynamicLightSystem.
- Seeded in RoomFieldSystem (Blight-gated on plan.Biome, born-correct staggered
  stamp from live ServerTick), GeyserFieldSpawner + authoring wired into the
  Gameplay subscene. Geyser.prefab duplicated from ResourceNode (no collider).
- BuildDisc promoted to FeedbackFx (shared with the barrel fuse ring).
- 474/474 EditMode incl. the unstamped-storm regression; live no-storm end-to-end.

kronic bbf418e779 Hazard: destructible cover — carve-able rocks that genuinely block until broken
Phase 1.5 long-term #8, the LAST 1.5 item (design review wf_e14dd739-069:
both HIGHs + the distinct MEDs verified before the session limit ate the
duplicate verifiers; unverified leftovers reasoned-closed in the spec).

Cover = a BlightClutter ghost (Variant 4) with a baked Environment-layer
BoxCollider: the runtime ghost's collider joins BuildPhysicsWorld ->
blocks the player CC and the enemy sweep while alive, and the gap opens
the instant the entity dies. Both hit paths already break it (the
clutter chassis); 8 hits to carve.

Review folds:
- HIGH: the 07-07 anti-stuck nudge would phase enemies THROUGH cover
  after ~1.5s (it exists to prevent room soft-locks). The nudge is now
  COVER-AWARE: a SphereCast identifies the blocker; a live BlightClutter
  ghost suppresses the phase (no soft-lock possible - the blocker is
  destructible); static-geometry wedges still nudge.
- HIGH: yield==durability made tanky cover an economy faucet. Deposit
  is DECOUPLED from the decrement at both hit sites: ScrapPerHit=0 =
  breaks in Remaining hits, yields NOTHING; fractional POSITIVE yields
  still credit >=1 (the B1 immortal-sink test pinned this - zero means
  zero, positive floors to 1).
- MEDs: HitRadius 1.2 (visual core, not a shot-eating disc), NO cover
  in Boss rooms (no boss depenetration backstop), scatter keep-out >=7u
  from the room origin (player landing + portal), Variant=4 explicit
  (the clutter block's explosive reroll cannot leak).
- Old static layer removed: 8 WorldColliders_RoomCover colliders
  (subscene) + the RoomCover_Visuals root (Game.unity).

Verified live: 3 cover ghosts spawned with SOLID baked colliders;
BLOCK - NudgeUntilTick stayed 0 across 3.5s of forced zero-progress
(old code arms at 1.5s); DEPENETRATE - an enemy shoved inside a live
rock exited to 1.7u (backstop holds against ghost colliders); CARVE -
the rock died to the real sweep and the spot probed OPEN. 470/470
EditMode; console clean.

kronic cd607ae156 Hazard: exploding barrels — fused explosive clutter, friendly-fire bait
Phase 1.5 environmental hazard v1 (design-review wf_2cb10454-fdf: 13
findings confirmed + folded; Build Spec in the vault). ~25% of room
clutter seeds as EXPLOSIVE (Variant 3 on the existing replicated byte
- zero new GhostFields/prefabs/RPCs).

The FUSE is the review's fold - one mechanism closes both HIGHs:
- Pop sites (projectile sweep + isServer-gated melee harvest) do NOT
  destroy an explosive: they zero the replicated Remaining + add a
  server-only BarrelFuse (~36 ticks). The client sees Remaining=0 on a
  still-alive barrel across snapshots -> unambiguous fuse cue, and
  booms at despawn ONLY when cached Remaining<=0 - a teardown despawn
  carries Remaining>0, so portal-advance teardowns can never fire
  false booms (HIGH #1).
- HazardExplosionSystem (server, plain group, presence-gated on
  BarrelFuse, never lifecycle-gated) detonates at ExplodeTick: radius
  damage to LIVING enemies AND players (boss-slam player filter
  verbatim; friendly fire = the bait mechanic), SourceTick stamped at
  detonation = the authoring moment (HIGH #2: the authored-tick
  contract dash i-frames negate against), SourceNetworkId=-1 (the
  environment convention - a player id would consume Charger
  whiff-punish windows). Fuse rides the RoomTag'd barrel -> teardown
  cleans lit barrels free.
- Lit barrels are unhittable at both snapshot sites (no double-pop).
- Client: WorldFeedback caches Variant -> boom-vs-puff split (big
  burst + light flash + boom SFX vs the old puff); DynamicLightSystem
  gives Variant-3 barrels a red danger glow that STROBES once fused.

Verified: 470/470 EditMode (4 new: fused pop instead of destroy +
unhittable, both-sides damage w/ -1 source + authored tick, dead-player
+ radius filters, unelapsed-fuse inert); live smoke - seeded 3/8
explosive, real-sweep pop, CLIENT observed the fuse cue on the live
ghost, pinned bait enemy took exactly 26 (30->4), walk-out escape
confirmed; console clean.

kronic 53bc21143d Feel: breakable clutter reads as Hades-style barrels, one-hit pop
The BlightClutter destructible-ghost chain (per-room seeding, unified
DR-018-safe sweep, melee + projectile breaking, personal-inventory
drops) already existed end-to-end - the roadmap item's gap was FEEL:

- Visual: prefab Model mesh swapped SM_Env_Rock_Chunk_01 (read as
  scenery) -> SM_Prop_Barrel_01 (FantasyKingdom, same proven atlas
  material). Base-pivot barrel offset -1 on the Model child (scatter
  y=1 is the capsule plane - the base-pivot float gotcha).
- One-hit pop: prefab Remaining 8 -> 2 (both hit paths decrement by
  max(1,(int)ScrapPerHit)=2, so one swing/shot shatters); authoring
  default kept in sync.
- Density: MaxClutterPerRoom 6 -> 8.

Verified live: 8 barrels seeded in a combat room, grounded (screenshot);
an injected projectile through the real ResourceHarvestSystem sweep
popped one barrel in ONE hit (8 -> 7) and credited 2 Biomass; 466/466
EditMode, console clean.

kronic 813c829420 Hygiene B4d: PlayerResolve dedup + explicit Temp-ECB Dispose tail
- New Server/PlayerResolve.TryResolve single-sources the RPC
  SourceConnection -> NetworkId -> conn->player map resolve (3 sites:
  ClassSelectReceive, PrepPurchase, DebugCommandReceive); EntityManager
  reads keep it source-gen-safe from Bursted receivers.
- ecb.Dispose() after Playback in 9 Temp-ECB systems (explicit-lifetime
  hygiene).
- The TuningConfig.GetOrDefault(ref state) variant of this tail was
  REVERTED: state.GetEntityQuery in OnUpdate trips the Entities
  "creates a query during OnUpdate" diagnostic per system per world
  (caught in Play smoke) - the SystemAPI.TryGetSingleton idiom is
  already source-gen-optimal, confirming the original B4 deferral.

Verified: 466/466 EditMode green on the final tree, console clean,
Play smoke 0 errors.

kronic b1041003f0 Hygiene B0-B1: correctness & latent traps
- Restore swallowed [Test] on EnemyAIMathTests.SlideVelocity_DegenerateNormal_DeflectsToTangent (dead regression guard for the shipped enemy-stuck-on-cover fix; now runs + passes).
- Extract shared HarvestMath.DepositYield used by ResourceHarvestSystem + MeleeComboSystem; fixes melee mining silently ignoring per-item StackMax (it hard-coded DefaultStackMax) and hoists the melee ledger-buffer fetch out of the per-target loop.
- StatMath.Apply switches on the raw byte (case (byte)ModOp.X) instead of casting to the enum inside the Bursted fold — removes the latent cross-assembly enum-in-Burst ICE trap.
- Add [Min] guards on CycleDirectorAuthoring loss-critical ints (CoreIntegrityMax>=1 so a mis-authored 0 can't bake an instant-loss core; siege sizes >=0).

kronic 3109b86d71 Slice 3: Expedition Combat Spine — epoch-seeded zone waves (DR-040)
Reactivate the dormant Expedition region as a procedural combat venue.
v1 loop: walk the gate -> fight an epoch-seeded enemy wave in the
expedition -> clear -> return -> flat Ore reward (once per epoch) ->
escalated retaliation base siege.

- New sim types: ZoneEnemyTag, ZoneEnemyDirector (+ ZoneEnemyPrefab
  buffer), ZoneEnemyState, ZoneEnemyMath (grunt->charger composition
  by epoch). ZoneEnemyDirectorSystem (server, Burst): drip-spawns the
  wave at a deterministic ring under a MaxAlive cap while a player is
  out and the base is Calm; marks ClearedThisEpoch on a real clear.
  [UpdateAfter(ExpeditionFieldSystem)] only (avoids a sort cycle).
- BLOCKER 1: EnemyAISystem region-filters target selection (player +
  structure snapshots gain parallel region lists; no base structures /
  no Core fallback for expedition husks).
- BLOCKER 3: WaveSystem, ThreatDirectorSystem timeout cull, and
  CyclePhaseSystem DefendCleared + Core-breach cull all count/cull
  RegionTag{Base} husks only (the breach cull was caught region-blind
  by the post-impl review: a base breach wiped the live expedition
  wave and spuriously paid the reward).
- BLOCKER 4: reward de-duped via CycleRuntime.LastRewardedEpoch +
  ClearedThisEpoch; ExpeditionGateSystem deposits RewardOre once/epoch.
- ExpeditionFieldSystem teardown also culls zone enemies + region-
  guards the clutter loop. Subscene wired with the director + roster.

368/368 EditMode green + clean netcode Play smoke. Docs: DR-040 ->
built, session log, CLAUDE.md cross-region tag-reaudit rule.

kronic e1ed08a803 Economy: base-local mining loop (mine at base, any attack harvests, scheduled sieges)
Consolidate the divorced combat + economy halves into one base-local loop. BaseFieldSpawnSystem tops up RegionTag{Base} Ore nodes around the plot; harvest routes Base->shared ledger and Expedition/untagged->personal inventory for BOTH the projectile (ResourceHarvestSystem) and melee (MeleeComboSystem server-only block, writes Remaining back for VFX). Activate the reserved Schedule source in ThreatDirectorSystem so base sieges arm WITHOUT an expedition trip (the loop-closer: previously zero waves ever attacked a base-only player). Region-filter the ExpeditionFieldSystem teardown so it no longer wipes the permanent base field. HudSystem shows phase-aware loop copy. See DR-031.

kronic 43f355c06b Equipment: weapon-granted abilities + gear mods (DR-027 Phase 1)
Equipment slots reusing the AbilityRef/StatModifier machinery: EquipmentSlot [GhostField] buffer (index=slot), server-only event-driven EquipSystem (RPC). Weapon -> AbilityRef.Id swaps the attack (prefab + base stats, prediction-correct); gear -> StatModifiers tagged a reserved per-slot EquipSourceId, stripped target-agnostically via RemoveBySourceId. Item mods are INLINE on ItemDefBlob (a nested BlobArray reads empty under the by-value TryGetItem copy). Atomic equip-over swap (no item loss); DefaultAbility restores the unarmed ability on weapon-unequip. Client keys + build-safe hooks; HUD equipment panel + click-to-equip. 4 catalog weapon/gear items wired + re-baked.

Play-validated host+client: weapon equip swaps AbilityRef on both worlds, gear folds into EffectiveCharacterStats, unequip reverses + restores DefaultAbility, all replicated to the owner. See DR-027.

kronic 599b9b4255 Inventory: per-player items backbone (DR-026 Phase 0)
Data-driven ItemDatabase catalog + per-player replicated InventorySlot ([GhostField] OwnerSendType.All, a StatModifier twin). Harvest reroutes to the firing player's personal inventory (optional ComponentLookup<GhostOwner> in ResourceHarvestSystem; remainder/un-owned -> ledger); the G-key InventoryDepositRequest RPC moves the bag into the shared ledger the build economy spends. Catalog asset (Aether/Ore/Biomass + Stone Pickaxe) wired into the Gameplay subscene; read-only HUD inventory panel. ushort ItemId subsumes ResourceId; byte Category/Tier baked for gear-tier progression. Session-only (no SaveData bump).

Play-validated host+client: catalog baked into both worlds, the re-baked player ghost carries InventorySlot with a clean handshake, a server write replicates to the client owner, the deposit RPC round-trips, and the HUD renders catalog names. See DR-026.
